Meet Oslo, Basic Academy's school-wide, certified therapy dog who plays a vital role in supporting the well-being of our students and staff.

Therapy dogs like Oslo are trained to provide comfort, reduce anxiety, and promote social interaction. Their presence can create a calming atmosphere, making it easier for students to engage in school and navigate challenges. Many studies show that interaction with therapy dogs can help improve focus, boost mood, and foster a sense of belonging within the school community.

Oslo works in our school counseling office and participates in various school activities, allowing students to interact with him in a safe and structured environment.

If you have any questions or concerns about the therapy dog program, please feel free to email Steven Bentz, assistant principal, at bentzsj@nv.ccsd.net or Marisa Burkhardt, school counselor, at burkhmc@nv.ccsd.net.
